Voices of Connection: Happy Labor Day Weekend | Goodbye to Summer - Mozart's Dies Irae

Labor Day weekend traditionally marks the unofficial "end" to the summer and we look toward Autumn and the festivities to come. At Voices of Ascension, we are excited to welcome audiences back and cannot wait to share some of the finest music with you.

As we say goodbye to summer, we turn our attention to the upcoming 2022-23 season. Haydn is perhaps most known for his prolific catalogues of string quartets and symphonic works. His profound impact as a composer is only matched by being an equally significant mentor and teacher to a young W.A. Mozart. Today, as we prepare for our season opening concert of Haydn's "Lord Nelson" Mass we hear a selection by one of Haydn's most successful students, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The influence in each others' works is most noted as Haydn's later works have an almost "Mozartian" feel. Composed in 1791, 8 years before the "Lord Nelson" Mass, Mozart's Requiem displays an operatic drama reminiscent of Haydn's later works.

Enjoy this end of summer goodbye, as we welcome a new season of incredible classics, new collaborations, and more. Tickets for go on sale September 12th! Secure the best seats and price all season long with a subscription.
