Voices of Connection: 11/20 Kyrie from Duruflé's Requiem

This movement represents the most inspired pages of music Duruflé ever composed. The first section begins so simply, but with deep and tender feelings. In the middle section, the women’s voices express a personal plea for mercy, accompanied by expressive string accompaniment. Finally, with great emotion, the women build up to the stunning re-entry of the basses and tenors. Then the sopranos and altos enter again and the entire orchestral ensemble, representing the whole community, sings from the very depths of their souls. – Dennis Keene, Artistic Director
