Voices of Connection: 05/15 Lili Boulanger: Sous Bois
The younger sister of famed French musician Nadia Boulanger, Lili died at a very early age and thus only composed a small body of music. This exquisite piece is virtually unknown and was out of print for decades. I believe this performance was actually the NY Premiere even though the piece was composed in the early years of the 20th century. The work depicts two lovers on a walk in the woods and their tender remembrance of it. Pianist Daniel Beckwith played with such poetry!
