Voices of Connection: 03/27 Bainton: And I Saw a New Heaven
Edgar Bainton (1880-1956) was an English composer and teacher perhaps best known in his lifetime as director of New South Wales State Conservatorium in Sydney, Australia. Although he composed operas and much vocal, symphonic, and instrumental music, he is almost entirely known for this inspired church anthem. With great tenderness, hope, and peace, he portrays a new and better world, and a vision of a place with no tears, sorrow or pain.
