Voices of Connection: 03/09 Born on this day: Samuel Barber
Samuel Barber was one of the most successful and popular composers of the 20th century. Many of Barber's works, such as Adagio for Strings, have become icons of American music. In the choral world, his set of three Reincarnations is widely considered a pillar of American choral music. This beautiful, gentle movement tells a story of a couple who are so comfortable with each other and so deeply in love that they need no more words; it’s enough for them to hold hands. This recording was made by the Dale Warland Singers, for 30 years one of the greatest professional choruses anywhere. Dale is a dear friend and we still keep in touch, though not enough! Bravo, Dale! Really gorgeous recording!
