ABOUT HER ASTRONAUTICA PIECE
“Her Rightful Place Among the Stars” is an electroacoustic soundscape and SSA work, based on the audio field recordings from the all-female spacewalk, with Mission Control, October 2019, and interviews with Jessica Meir and Christina Koch after the first all-female spacewalk. Tuned in tandem with the sounds of NASA’s electromagnetic recordings of each planetary body, and our solar system’s star, the Sun, the vocal phrases of Trio Triumphatrix resonate the spirit of adventure, exploration, and transcendence to other realms, with their modalities, eerie sonorities, and pragmatic steadfast lyrics, of simply “doing our job” — and is dedicated to the legacy of women astronauts who have come before, who have paved the path of progress for women in space, today. – Bora Yoon
