Voices of Connection: 04/29 Bruckner: Os Justi

Something different today! This is one of the greatest choral pieces of the late 19th century, profound and deeply moving. Since our earliest years, it has been a mainstay of our repertory. I thought it would be interesting today to offer two performances of the same piece. The first comes from our very first Delos recording – recorded in 1993 and edited from several takes. The other is a live, unedited concert recording from 2015 – 22 years later! Clearly it is the same basic interpretation. But there are differences: the careful cleanliness and flawless Delos sound versus the inspiration of the moment which can only occur in a live concert. Which one do you prefer? I would love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to comment right on the YouTube page.
