For me, the best part Christmas carols is really the act of singing them together. While at many times of my life and career this has meant singing with very fine choirs in world-class acoustics, ever since my childhood carols parties, there’s been nothing that says Christmas to me quite like the singing carols outside. And the best part about singing outside right now is that it is one of the few forms of singing together that we can actually engage in safely.

It was a great pleasure to gather with Sarah Chalfy, Hai-Ting Chinn, and Brandon Hynum and do some caroling around downtown yesterday afternoon and evening. As you might imagine, it’s fairly challenging singing in masks, and of course on noisy streets (although occasionally passersby will join in the singing!), but mostly it is a great joy to be able to sing together and share music with people in whatever small way, so I want to share these clips with you today. We all look forward to much more music-making together in the coming year! — Wesley Chinn
