Voices of Connection: 05/20 Duruflé: Requiem - Domine Jesu Christe

In honor of Peter Batchelder, organ technician and COVID survivor!

Peter Batchelder, our great friend, is the organ technician of the magnificent Manton Memorial Organ at Church of the Ascension. Since its inauguration in 2011 he has been tuning and caring for this important instrument with exceptional skill and devotion. Peter is a survivor of COVID. His case was extremely serious. But he is now in rehab, rebuilding his strength. We send him best wishes and look forward to welcoming him back to the organ chambers! Like many of our audience, he is a devotee of our performances of Duruflé’s Requiem. This is the longest and most complex movement, with wildly impassioned sections followed by the tranquility of Gregorian chant – all balanced with perfection.
