Voices of Connection: 09/28 Ravel Kaddish
We end our High Holiday series with this truly special recording. The Kaddish is a prayer said or sung at certain services during the year and as someone passes away. Some temples include it on Yom Kippur. This is a composed setting by the great French composer Ravel for soloist and piano. We were fortunate in 2018 to feature the great countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen in our performance of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms which we played just last week. Early on in this pandemic he made a virtual recording of this piece with his accompanist in another location. The intensity of feeling from these young musicians will move you very deeply. Thank you, Aryeh, for letting us include this.
