“O for the wings of a dove!” is certainly one of Mendelssohn’s most famous vocal works. This exceptionally beautiful music evokes a far-away place of peace and rest. We were so very privileged to have the great star of the Metropolitan Opera, Hei-Kyung Hong, as our soloist. You can’t imagine what it was like to stand right in front of her during the recording sessions and hear that glorious voice! Our board member Barbara Chacour was at the live concert shortly before the recording was made and said, “When it was performed live with Hei-Kyung Hong, I was sitting way up in the balcony. The beauty of the piece and Ms. Hong’s extraordinary voice went right through me. I have never forgotten it!” Thanks, Hei-Kyung, and thanks Barbara for requesting this!
