Voices of Connection: 07/31 From Catalonia
Most people know Pablo Casals as one of history’s greatest cellists. But he was also a conductor, educator, and composer. Among his works are the very beautiful choral compositions written for the Choir School at Montserrat, near Barcelona. Casals’ great gift as a composer was his ability to express his deep feelings in a simple, genuine manner. Scored for treble voices and keyboard, the Nigra sum is an absolutely beautiful, haunting work.
