These movements are quintessential examples of Palestrina’s serene, flowing, spiritually elevated style. Each individual vocal line is rising and falling on its own while at the same time combining with all the other vocal lines to create those wonderful sonorities we associate with Palestrina. The “Benedictus,” scored for only sopranos, altos and tenors, provides a delicate, tender, ravishingly beautiful moment.
