Voices of Connection: 06/22 I was glad!
Let’s start this week off with a bang! This amazing piece was composed for the coronation of Edward VII in 1902 and has been performed at every English coronation since. It is the quintessential British ceremonial piece, with thrilling grandeur of the first order. What you’re hearing came from a live concert, and we included the middle section, usually omitted. Its almost boisterous “Vivats” summon up the electrifying atmosphere of the grand coronation ritual in Westminster Abbey.
