For our very first recording for Delos we were incredibly lucky to collaborate with the great American tenor Vinson Cole. Naturally, we looked for pieces he could sing with our chorus. Our friend, Ray Willingham, came up with this obscure arrangement of the great Schubert solo song for 4-part men’s chorus and tenor solo. I can’t even tell you who made this arrangement because I am working from home and the scores are down at the Voices’ office! But it’s great fun to listen to this, especially with such an amazing soloist: one of the most beautiful voices I ever heard, from his meltingly sweet pianos to the full power of the fortissimo sections. Bravo, Vinson!
