Today and tomorrow we celebrate two aspects of choral singing in South Africa. Today’s piece by the young Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds is a virtual recording with video which was just released a couple days ago. This really first-rate ensemble is Vox Cape Town, conducted by John Woodland. The piece is beautiful, and I love how it incorporates the sounds of tuned glasses, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the chorus. From New York we say, “Happy Anniversary, Vox Cape Town! Keep up the beautiful work!”
