The great Spanish Renaissance composer Victoria may be best known for his mystical, deeply emotive works. But this motet is pure joy! Meg Bragle sang with Voices for years and went on to become an internationally acclaimed soloist. She wrote me recently from University of Pennsylvania where she is Artist in Residence. She had given students an assignment to write about a piece, and said, “many of them chose Voices’ version of Victoria's O quam gloriosum! They particularly loved the opening and clarity of lines”.
