Voices of Connection: 06/10 TCHAIKOVSKY: BLAZHENI, YAHZE IZBRAL

From the rich repertory of Russian Orthodox music composed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries this is one of my favorite pieces, and, I believe, Tchaikovsky’s finest choral composition. It was intended as a work of hope to be sung at a funeral. As the text says the departed ones will be remembered from generation to generation, the voices swell to a moment of great fervor and inspiration.
